1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser Frame off restoration

LOVE THE MUSTARD!!!

1978, the last year of the classic round bezel and most sought after in those models.  The restoration started with a cosmetic overhaul after all mechanical checks and maintenance.  The whole truck was torn down piece by piece and attended to.  The rear tub was replaced with an aluminum aqualu tub upgrade ($5000)……no worries of ever rusting!  (The FJ tubs were susceptible to rust especially at the rocker panels and rear quarters due to poor quality sheet metal.)  All new Toyota OEM replacements were used when available.  Engine bay is all original with the exception of the carburetor which is a Weber.  Engine fires right up without the need of the choke.   The original 2F 4spd engine has less than 100K miles, runs extremely strong, and cruises comfortably down the road.  All cylinders passed compression tests. All smog components are still in tact (just not attached). This can be easily reconnected if your state requires it (CA).

Tires are all new 33″ BFG Mud Terrains.  Just added a new Optima battery and muffler.  All new OEM weather stripping, emblems, correct stainless steel hardware, door run channels, etc.  Seats have been re-upholstered with all new CCOT leather covers exact to Toyota specs.  Suspension includes a 3.5″ lift kit with OME springs and RC shocks.  The original radio in dash was left for classic appeal and value, but a JVC CD player was added in addition to a Tuffy console box.    All spot weld marks were attended to……..all body lines are smooth like today’s cars (not wavy in the sunlight like original).  No expense spared on the meticulous paint job.  Truck looks and rides better than factory.

This truck has spent 90% of it’s life in Missouri with it’s original owner and garage kept.  I have owned many FJ40’s over the years, and this was probably the cleanest find I’ve come across as far as it’s condition.  I can confidently say that over 85% of the FJ’s I find will not make the cut for restoration.  Climate shows these are becoming more popular in the high end auctions (Barrett-Jackson, Mecum) as they have topped over $100K in less time than predicted (2013).  Pics do not do this FJ justice……it is a showroom piece.

1980 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER HJ45 (COOL FLATBED!)

This fine flatbed HJ45 is currently available on ebay

This rare diesel Toyota Land Cruiser pick up is in amazingly, clean condition. It has been well maintained and garage kept. There is absolutely no rust or bondo/body filler on this truck. It’s a really good, solid running pick up. A nice bonus is that it has Power Steering and Power brakes. I can have A/C and heat added for a reasonable cost.

This was the last year HJ45s were made before Toyota switched to the HJ47s.
It has the powerful H diesel motor, able to do 80mph easily and still average 22mpg.
You can tell it has low miles by how strong the engine is, and how well it drives.

A certified mechanic inspected the truck, and all tests passed perfectly.
It shifts cleanly, transmission, 4×4 shift, all perfect. Lights, wipers, horn, original radio even works. It has the original overhead compartment for the radio and speakers, a really nice feature not found in all cruisers.
The truck bed is made of solid, hardwood, that will never rot, These truck beds are built to last a lifetime.
The pictures don’t do justice to how nice this one is.

1966 Toyota Land Cruiser (factory soft top-restored)

This incredible 1966 Toyota Land Cruiser w/ Factory Soft Top is currently available on ebay

Here’s an opportunity to own an incredible Concours Winning Factory Soft Top FJ40 Landcruiser. This FJ40 received a 3-year complete bare metal nut and bolt restoration to the highest standard. The restoration was completed in 2013. It has been driven 151 miles since being finished.

Originally sold at Hil Probert Motors in Lakespur , California (see inner glove box decal), and still wearing its original California black plates to this day.

This 1966 cruiser started out as a dry and complete California example, never hit, original Volcanic Beige paint, a true cream puff and the best possible base car you could ever hope to find for a full blown nut and bolt restoration.

The restoration was a team effort involving some highly respected Landcruiser experts based out of the Pacific Northwest. Genesis 4 wheel drive, Metric TLC, and Landcruiser Northwest.

I have a 3 ring binder full of all documentation pertaining to the restoration.

Every component is restored, rebuilt, detailed, plated, accurately reproduced, etc.

Many New Old Stock parts were used during the build. It has correct coral red upholstery, proper red seat belts, khaki green soft top and soft doors, proper canvas safety straps for the door openings, correct decals. I also have a rebuilt Jack with handles, and a restored hand crank start handle that are included.

Drivetrain is a freshly rebuilt 2F with a 4 speed; it was built to be a great driver.

I’m a firm believer in pictures being worth a thousand words. Please see my gallery for as found, under construction, and finished photos.

This beauty was debuted at the 2013 Forest Grove Concours D Elegance where it won its class and was runner up for best in show post-war. Not an easy task by any means.

If you’re just starting your search for an investment grade FJ, I’d recommend taking a few minutes to browse this article recently published by Hemmings Motor News, particularly Item #3:

http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/01/02/five-car-hobby-predictions-for-the-coming-year/

The reason for selling is I’m making a move on a once in a lifetime muscle car that is available.

Has a clean CA title.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 1970 (one original owner)

I love the patina on this 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser…to me this is what a land cruiser that you plan on using should look like…a trail blazer…love it! This sweetheart is currently for sale on Ebay.

One owner, bought new 1970 in CA, still have much of the original paperwork, books, manuals, receipts, original tool kit, jack etc. Spent about 4k recently to bring it back out of the garage and to back to public eye. Still have all the original parts that were replaced and still have about 2k worth of new OEM parts that go with it. Runs and drives great, very very original and not ever hacked up. All the parts new and old are in mostly original boxes and will go with the sale (see pic) The original working Warn Winch will also go with the sale (see pic) there is only one spot of rust on the entire FJ and its along the floor lip under rear door area, otherwise it is completly rust free as far as we can tell today. So much is new with Toyota replacement parts to make it dependable and reliable again. 5 new oem wheels and tires, and hubcaps, all 8 wheel cylinders, fuel lines, fuel pump, water pump, radiator, hoses, belts and new in boxes are new headliner, new rear window glass, all new replacement bumpers many many more new items, we just got carried away trying to buy new things to have it restored. After we got it on the road the shop doing the work said we should keep it original and enjoy it but we cant really use it anymore. Any questions please ask, its a wonderful rig and a joy to drive. The green mini bike comes with the FJ included in the sale.

T O Y O T A F J 4 0 L A N D C R U I S E R 1979 (Low Orginal Miles!)

Great story and a great looking truck! This beauty is currently available on eBay

O R I G I N A L 1979 T O Y O T A F J 4 0 L A N D C R U I S E R

I am selling this extremely low mileage 1979 FJ40 Land Cruiser beauty which is in pristine condition. I first saw this immaculate truck in 1996 in Runnemede, NJ in response to a classified ad. I took it for a test drive that afternoon and it was love a first sight. It had only 28,000 miles on it and looked factory new and drove like a new truck. The owner said he bought it from the original owner who had it in storage. I went home to get an ok from the boss and phoned the owner that night only to be informed that he had just sold it. Needless to say, he broke my heart. I continued my search for another cream puff FJ40 in the Philadelphia & New Jersey region but FJ40’s are scarce in this area. I finally responded to a Philadelphia newspaper classified ad in 1998 for a 1979 that turned out to the one I tried to buy in 1996.

It now had 32,500 miles and still in the same immaculate condition as when I first saw it two years earlier. I bought it on the spot and since have had many happy years with this awesome truck. Sadly to say, I must sell my faithful and beautiful FJ40. I have recently retired and in the process of selling our much too large home and we are going to downsize to a condo. My truck has only about 37,500 miles on it now. I only put about 5,000 miles on it over the past (15) years due to a demanding international traveling schedule. This truck has been spoiled and always maintained with frequent oil changes and coolant changes even though it had low miles. It has always been garage kept and has never seen a night outside. After rain, it was always wiped dry.

This FJ40 is truly a “Garage Queen”.The exterior and interior paint (031) is in immaculate condition. I was told by the second owner that the paint was original as was the brown striping which was dealer applied. There are no dents, dings, chips, scratches or rust. The truck has ambulance doors with a factory swing out spare tire rack. The fiberglass reinforced steel hardtop is removable. All doors are in mint condition with mechanically perfect operating windows and locks. Steps are in mint condition. All glass is clear with no chips or cracks. All metal Toyota emblems are intact and in excellent condition. The interior paint (031) is in excellent condition. There is a factory roll bar along with (2) opposing fold down seats. Head liner is white and in excellent condition. All seats are vinyl and grey and equipped with seat belts. Door panels are matching grey. Door panels and seats are in mint condition except for some slight fraying on the driver seat bottom about 2″ long.. The dash board is black and in mint condition with no cracks or fading. Front black Toyota floor mats are in excellent condition. The front heater and blower along with rear floor heater work great in the cold weather and operate perfectly. Rubber boots for transmission and t-case floor shifts are in excellent condition.

All gauges, speedometer, odometer are in perfect condition with wipers that always park properly. The cab is perfectly tight with no air or water leaks. The 2F (4.2 L, in-line 6) is strong and in excellent condition. A new catalytic converter and exhaust piping was installed this past summer. I have never registered this truck in New Jersey as an antique vehicle, therefore, it was always subject to New Jersey’s strict emission standards during bi-annual inspections. It always met the standards and I have copies of all the inspection results. The brakes and e-brake are strong and there is no squeaking, squealing or pulling. The engine compartment is exceptionally clean. The hood and its latches are in excellent condition. Tires are GoodYear P235-75R-15 (90%+) tread that are mounted on the original steel wheels with original chrome hub caps. The wheels original grey color was replaced with a dark brown color to match the exterior striping. The swing out spare tire rack has a never used spare matching tire. The truck has black fender flares and a locking fuel access door. Also, the original Toyota jack kit and repair tool bag are included.
