This is not just any Land Cruiser restorationit’s another custom, Vintage Cruiser Co., Toyota Land Cruiser restoration!  This simply means that, bolt for bolt, you get the highest quality restoration for the best possible price.  Guaranteed!

Our pricing is the most competitive because all of our restorations are done by our team of professionals, in Costa Rica, where parts are plentiful and labor is more competitive.

The Vintage Cruiser Co. is a restoration company and not a car broker/reseller.

The Vintage Cruiser Co. doesn’t just purchase second-hand Toyota Land Cruisers in Costa Rica, mark them up without restoring them, and resell/import them to/for our customers for a hefty profit without adding value to the transaction.  The Vintage Cruiser Co. sources (purchases) Toyota Land Cruisers, takes them back to our restoration workshop in the mountains of Costa Rica, and properly restores them, frame-off, so our clients know they are getting a newly restored Toyota Vintage Land Cruiser, and not a second-hand and un-restored one that many before have owned and used (possibly mistreated) before them.

Our clients are the first owners of their newly restored Toyota Vintage Cruiser!

All of our custom restorations start with a solid Land Cruiser frame and chassis, from Costa Rica, that we completely take apart and/or painstakingly restore to its original factory condition.  We restore only two Toyota Land Cruisers at a time and have a 60 day waiting list for new clients.  All of our Vintage Cruisers come with clean and clear Florida titles.  We take care of all import related documentation, duties, fees, DOT and EPA requirements, and you get a 100% properly imported vehicle that is transferable in any one of the fifty states or your money back. Guaranteed!

Classic 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 4×4

A sweet stocky 1972 FJ40 brought to you by Sun Valley Auto Club in Hailey, ID

Classic 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 4×4

Classic Land Cruiser restored to factory specifications. No lifts or engine swap here. This FJ40 is true and correct. Toyota brand parts only used in this restoration. This FJ has great metal under the freshly painted Hudson green, an OEM Toyota color. We took a paint meter to it and found no rust and all factory sheet metal and factory welds. One of the cleanest FJ40’s we have ever come across. All the lights, bumpers, emblems, handles, hubcaps, and wheels are in great condition. The same will be said for the interior. Freshly recovered seats, clean and clear glass, clean and undamaged knobs, and nice interior paint. It does have the rear jump seats to haul some friends around too. The engine is in stock form and has plenty of pep. This is one stylish FJ that is in original condition.

1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser Frame off restoration

1978, the last year of the classic round bezel and most sought after in those models.  The restoration started with a cosmetic overhaul after all mechanical checks and maintenance.  The whole truck was torn down piece by piece and attended to.  The rear tub was replaced with an aluminum aqualu tub upgrade ($5000)……no worries of ever rusting!  (The FJ tubs were susceptible to rust especially at the rocker panels and rear quarters due to poor quality sheet metal.)  All new Toyota OEM replacements were used when available.  Engine bay is all original with the exception of the carburetor which is a Weber.  Engine fires right up without the need of the choke.   The original 2F 4spd engine has less than 100K miles, runs extremely strong, and cruises comfortably down the road.  All cylinders passed compression tests. All smog components are still in tact (just not attached). This can be easily reconnected if your state requires it (CA).

Tires are all new 33″ BFG Mud Terrains.  Just added a new Optima battery and muffler.  All new OEM weather stripping, emblems, correct stainless steel hardware, door run channels, etc.  Seats have been re-upholstered with all new CCOT leather covers exact to Toyota specs.  Suspension includes a 3.5″ lift kit with OME springs and RC shocks.  The original radio in dash was left for classic appeal and value, but a JVC CD player was added in addition to a Tuffy console box.    All spot weld marks were attended to……..all body lines are smooth like today’s cars (not wavy in the sunlight like original).  No expense spared on the meticulous paint job.  Truck looks and rides better than factory.

This truck has spent 90% of it’s life in Missouri with it’s original owner and garage kept.  I have owned many FJ40’s over the years, and this was probably the cleanest find I’ve come across as far as it’s condition.  I can confidently say that over 85% of the FJ’s I find will not make the cut for restoration.  Climate shows these are becoming more popular in the high end auctions (Barrett-Jackson, Mecum) as they have topped over $100K in less time than predicted (2013).  Pics do not do this FJ justice……it is a showroom piece.

1980 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser

1980 fj40 blue toyota Land Cruiser e

Here is a very nice 1980 Land Cruiser. It has low miles and is in excellent condition. It has factory power steering, new tires, rims, upholstery, fuel tank and fuel system related , and any and all other small parts that didn’t measure up or showed wear. All systems work including factory washers and horn. The only thing not stock is emissions. the original owner de-smogged it  20 years ago.

The truck came to me in excellent condition to begin with. Then it was disassembled, painted and gone through top to bottom to make sure all things worked as should. Hundreds of hours

went into checking , rechecking and restoring  Because it had been in storage for over twelve years, rather than just send fuel tank in for cleaning, it was replaced with new, as was the sender, pump, soft lines, etc. I chose to go with brand new Toyota rims to avoid any possible loss of integrity after 35 years of service on the originals. Tires are brand new Mastercraft , USA made by Cooper Tire Co. Because the motor had so few miles only the water jacket related  and ignition maintenance items were replaced. Thermostat and the housing, hoses and such.

It’s a beautiful truck that turns heads and gets waves everywhere you go.

Volcan 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 + Matching Trailer

This is awesome!!!
Here is the latest from Volcan 4×4…a restored FJ43 (3rd of 5 inbound for 2014). Truck is in route to Tampa, Florida from Colombia and for sale on Hemmings. Her name is ESTELLA and is named after a lovely family friend in Colombia.
This is an extensive frame on restoration of a strong running, late model FJ43. Truck has a hard top, a custom soft top pickup top and a “coastrunner” open sided beach soft top.
The trailer is made from a new steel FJ43 tub and is paint matched in Toyota Freeborn Red to match the tow vehicle.  Trailer has a reinforced frame and axles that match the Toyota bolt pattern.  The custom front storage box and rear tailgate
were hand made by resourceful Colombian metal workers.
We plan to offer these custom off-road trailers to FJ40 owners in the US for $6900. We can paint each trailer in any classic Toyota color as well.

Volcan 4×4 does Toyota Land Cruiser importing & restoration…the right way!

I am excited to see a brand new company like Volcan 4X4 importing and restoring high quality vintage Toyota Land Cruisers from Colombia into the USA. They are the number one importer of Colombian Toyota Land Cruiser trucks. Check out Volcan 4×4’s website and prepare to be impressed!
I recently spoke to the owner Charlie Guy, and this is what he had to say about the growing business:
” I started Volcan 4×4, LLC which is a Florida and Colombian based business specializing in sourcing, restoring and importing unique classic Toyota Land Cruisers. We are specializing in FJ43 models also.  We have been working since we started the business in early 2014 and are now on our 10th truck in process with 5 shipped into the US so far. We hope to do 20 trucks this year making us the number one importing of Colombian classic Land Cruisers.  We are focusing on trucks in the $30,000 to $60,000 price range”
This is one of our trucks below…

“This one we mostly bought this way from a Colombian airline pilot Land Cruiser enthusiast and did a light restoration. Just a FUN truck I could not pass up.  Most of our trucks we do frame on or frame off restorations and follow an original theme.
I believe that Volcan 4×4 is the only US citizen owned business bringing these great trucks out of Colombia. We are unique in that I speak Spanish and live part time in Colombia and oversee all the restorations. We have some great FJ43s coming soon and a frame off 1961 FJ40. The 1961s were very rare in the US with under 250 imported in 1961.”

1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 (full frame off restoration)

1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 (Factory PTO)

Another dream FJ40 for sale on Ebay!

1973 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Hard Top with factory PTO winch.  This vehicle is a museum-quality, rotisserie, frame-off, hand built, nut and bolt restoration.  It is exact to original manufactures specifications and appears just as it did when it rolled off the ARACO Toyota production line back in 1973.  You will not find a more original or meticulously restored FJ40.  There are well in excess of a thousand hours in this build, and probably just as many in research and parts acquisition in order to maintain integrity.  As much as the photos show, this vehicle is even more impressive in person.

This restoration is unique in that it began with what’s known as a “survivor” – an incredibly complete and unmolested specimen.  All components are original to the vehicle and meticulously refurbished. The entire vehicle was disassembled and cataloged.  All hardware and adornments were retained, cleaned, yellow zinc plated or re-chromed as per factory specification.

For new parts, every effort was made to use NOS OEM Toyota parts and rebuild kits sourced from the local Toyota dealership or from other reputable Land Cruiser Specialists.  Aftermarket parts were only used when absolutely necessary and only because the originals were no longer available.  No expense was spared and the attention to detail of this restoration is second to none.  Every decal, nut, and bolt is correct in its application.

Refurbished parts:
*   Chassis
*   Frame and respective components were media blasted and powder coated

*   All body pieces were coated with a self-etching primer and single-stage acrylic enamel paint
*   The color is the elusive “Heath Grey”, Toyota paint code T-113, and was available on FJ40s in the 1973 model year
*     The floor and underside of the tub were sprayed with a color matched, tinted raptor liner for sound dampening and durability
*     Electrical wiring harnesses were circuit-tested and re-wrapped
*      The fiberglass top was sanded down, re-coated with epoxy resin, repainted with Toyota’s “Cignus White”, and given a new headliner and visors.
*      New, custom-sewn vinyl seat covers identical to the original in color and appearance
*      New OEM shifter boots
*      All glass is original and displays the Toyota trademark in the corners
*      Seat frames, front and rear heaters, doors, console, steering wheel, dash, AM radio, knobs, pedals (including arms and bucket), wiper mechanism and seat belts are original and re-finished

Equally impressive:
*     Extremely rare original tool bag complete with stamped Toyota tools
*     Iconic yellow bottle jack and rods
*     Factory trouble light in its original plastic case
*     Genuine owners manual.

Even the ignition key is brand new OEM Toyota and comes inside a factory key wallet where it shares space with the new front and rear door keys.  As a finishing touch, no true period restoration would be complete without a matching set of license plates of the very same vintage.  It even smells like a new car inside!  No respectable collection is complete without an FJ40 in the stable, here’s your chance. Please visit the following link to be directed to an online photo album containing supplemental images, which chronicle each stage of my process in detail.  The album is organized such that there are before and after comparative pictures, followed by a complete chronicle of the restoration, and wrapped up with additional images of the finished Cruiser.
