1982 FJ60 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER
Here is a very special 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ60). Owned by Atlanta-based chef and television host Alton Brown, it’s in great condition inside and out with low mileage (for a Land Cruiser) and a few tasteful upgrades – including a three-inch lift, 33-inch BF Goodrich all-terrains, an intake snorkel, a roof rack and a modern stereo. One repaint in correct Freeborn Red done to a nice standard. Excellent body, trim, bumpers, glass and seals. The interior is remarkably clean with a crack-free dash; headliner and front seat upholstery are newer; door panels, carpet and rear seat upholstery are in good original condition. Light patina here and there from normal use but no heavy wear or damage.
This FJ’s owner has been as fastidious with maintenance as his screen persona would suggest: over the last three years, he has commissioned a complete mechanical overhaul at ACC Garage, the southeast’s premier Land Cruiser shop. Highlights include a top-end rebuild of the original 4.2 liter inline six (which included a valve job and full engine reseal), plus a rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt alternator, new water pump, new hoses, thermostat, fan clutch and a full tune-up. ACC also installed new clutch master and slave cylinders, plus a full brake job with new rotors, pads and brake master cylinder. Steering and suspension work included a new power steering pump, rebuilt steering gearbox, new tie rod ends, rebuilt front axle and an Ironman suspension lift with new springs and shocks. It’s very nicely detailed under the hood, with ACC’s signature powder-coated valve cover and many other powder-coated components for a durable finish.
This FJ60 runs and drives like new. Everything works as it should including all gauges, and the air conditioning blows ice cold (it’s been converted to R-134a and has a new compressor). Original window sticker and owner’s manual included. Clean CarFax with no accidents. Nice Spector Off-Road fitted canvas front seat covers included with the sale. Detailed service history available upon request to serious buyers.
Cosmetically, the truck is nice but not so perfect that you’d be afraid to drive it (or even do some light off-roading, an activity at which it certainly excels). Mechanically, it’s easily the best we have seen with tens of thousands spent over the last three years alone.
