Land Cruiser of the Day: an overnight success, ten years in the making

    September 12, 2020 /

I’ve had many Land Cruiser of the Day fans reach out to ask me how this website and the corresponding Pinterest page got started?  I never really intended for my Blog or Pinterest account to ever reach 300K+ eyeballs each month. LuminAID Adventure Light: Turning a Bright Idea Into a Brand

    March 4, 2019 /

Courtesy of MARIA WEIDICH & Garage Grown Gear Before Anna Stork and Andrea Sreshta became founders of LuminAID, which makes inflatable solar lanterns, they were architecture students at Columbia University. After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010, they were directed to create a product to support relief efforts. In addition to necessities like food, water and shelter, they pondered another vital essential: light. At night the makeshift tent communities set up after the earthquake turned dark, unwelcoming, and quite often dangerous. People would frequently rely on open candles, diesel generators, and kerosene lanterns as a form of light and electricity – which can be unsafe and costly.   Sadly, those caught…

    BE Outfitter

    March 2, 2019 /

Courtesy of Rucksack Magazine An interview with Rory Rogan; founder of California based outdoor apparel brand Be Outfitter.  Can you provide us with a bit of a background on yourself and your co-founder? Jeff (My Brother, Best Friend and Co-Founder) and I grew up in a small beach town on the East Coast of the United States called Lewes in the state of Delaware. We were fortunate to be raised in a place that was surrounded by Forests, Ponds, Farms and the Atlantic Ocean. Growing up we were always involved in team sports. Myself, Lacrosse and Jeff, Wrestling. Our family was certainly active but not in a classic outdoor sense with Camping…

Is a Roof-Top Tent right for you?

    February 25, 2019 /

How to Choose a Roof-Top Tent Given that camping has been around since Homo erectus came down from the trees, it wouldn’t seem like we have many innovations left in the art of sleeping under the stars. That said, roof-top tents, pitched atop their lofty perches, are getting double-takes from a lot of ground-dwelling campers these days. If you’re thinking about buying a roof-top tent, here’s what you’ll need to know. Pros and cons of roof-top tents: Quick setup vs. steeper cost are key considerations. How to know which tent works with your vehicle: Check tent, vehichle and rack specs carefully before you buy. How they attach to your vehicle: The floor bolts to your…

48 Hours in the French Alps

    February 23, 2019 /

January 07, 2019 | By Sherpa Adventure Gear Sherpa Ambassador, Nathan Peterson – @petenathanson, recently visited the French Alps and shared his insight and expertise on how to best spend 48 hours in Chamonix, if you’re short on time. All photos courtesy of Nathan. Chamonix is a remote mountain town in the heart of the French Alps, and undoubtedly one of the more popular mountain towns in Europe, but for good reason. Its accessibility to world class skiing, hiking and biking is second to none. If you had the time, this beautiful place would offer enough to keep you busy for months. However, if you’re like me, you likely won’t…
